I posted a problem on 5/23 about my starboard motor backfiring at 2500 rpms. It has progressed to the piont where it will not start now. If by chance it does turn over it will run rough for a few seconds then stall. Again the port motor runs fine they share the same tank of gas. I have changed fuel filters, seperators, points, condensor, rotor, and cap. Checked the wires and coil. Is there any chance something in the shifting switches is causing me troubles?

If it starts and runs at all it is unlikely it has anything to do with the microswitch / neutral safety switch. After reviewing your last post I still believe that your problem lies somewhere in the fuel delivery system, I don't know exactly what all you have checked, and by now I'm sure it is starting to sound redundant, but if it were my boat, I would drain the fuel tank completely, gain access to it and start there, woiking my way back to the carb. Sorry

Sound like you may need to rebuild the carb. Backfiring and now the hard start problem you described is definately a fuel related problem.
