Hi , i have a problem with my '86 sylvan boat OMC CobraI/O. it is leaking water into the boat from the shift cable sleeve where it connects to the transom inside the engine compartment . it will show up on the transom parts exploded view , it does not have a number but is between the o-ring (17) and shift cable bellows(16). i belive the o-ring has broken. Will I be able to unscrew the hose , put in new o-ring and/or sleeve and o'ring and reconnect it from inside the boat(looks difficult) or will I have to remove the whole outboard ***'y (including gimbal ring) to get to it? $$$ There is little room as one of the gimbal ring mounting bolts is next to it. any ideas?

The one I had to do had the shift cable hose screwed into the housing, we had to remove the motor to access it.the hose was rotted at the crimp connection.

thanks, i was afraid of that. will that be simpler than removing the outdrive? i will need to get a stub shaft to realign it then also. i will attempt to make a wrench to fit into the area first, similar to a plumbers vanity wrench. thanks again
