While making a throttle cable adjustment, I accidently dropped the nut that attaches the cable to the control arm.

To make matters worse, it dropped below the power head.....how bad is this? Can I leave it or do I need to drop the lower unit to find it?

Thanks.

There is no way that nut can get below the powerhead. The lower cowling, there are 4 screws that hold it on.

Excellent - now do I need to fish it out of there or can it stay?

Do you have anothere SS nut?
Which is cheaper, a trip to go buy a SS nut, or a few minutes with a flashlight and a piece of coathanger wire to fish it out and reuse it?
Your choice.

I can't seem to find it....I did dig around with the magnet, only to realize that it wouldn't be attracted to the magnet - doh!

I will have to get the flashlight out..... my original question should have been worded Is it Safe to leave it in there...

Thanks

Remove the 4 phillips screws in the lowest part of the cowling - where it says 115HP. The nut should fall out.
