Hey there, I'm completing restore of a 69 Wreidt Stinger 16.6". Had 70 Kiekhaefer Merc 1350, replaced with 87 J120TLCUR. Did not like VRO, so I removed the system & started with premix. Took boat out on shakedown, rough idle, rough to about 2200 R's, then smoothed out all the way to wot. Idle does not want to slow below 2200-2400? Used actual period-correct manual to set carbs, controls, & linkages. I'm @ 2000ft elevation, floated on lake. Engine looks very clean & well kept. I just can't smoothe out the low R's or get her to idle around the stated 650 range. Some help for a poor, worn out, disabled, Nam-era vet? Boating & fishing is about the only escape I have these days....& Don't have that!
