87 bayliner gas tank problem

ok i just bough this boat they have the inboat tank disconnected for some reason they use a portable gas tank the top is brokin( well this couse a problem) any ideas why the dissconeted the tank?

Full of dirt? Rust? Leaking? Too lazy to carry a gas can? Hard to say. Check it out and hook it back up.

ok it has gas in it and it dont leak just wonderd iof there was a fuel pump r something like that in there ) iam new to boating but i build em lol
