Hi there... I was wondering, which is the best way to remove the base of the seats in a 87 bayliner... back to back seats... do I have to cut the base out? Planning to put a captain seat in... tia

Pics always help us to help you. If you don't see any mechanical fasteners then more than likely the bases are fiberglassed to the deck. If that's the case then you'll need to cut them out and grind them smooth.

Sawzaw or angle grinder with the thin metal cutting blade ... Make sure you use the proper PPE ..
ps , a multi tool works well also ..

Yep you probably have something similar to the boxes shown in this photo.

It's a maxim but similar in construction to bay liners. Sawzall with a flexible blade.... Just be mindful of where you're cutting so you don't cut into the hull.

Just need a 3/8 wrench and a philips screwdriver. Seats are bolted across a pipe. Just slide one of the seats forward 6 inches and lift up and unbolt .Only need to take one bolt out per seat and the bar should swing sideways. Its as easy as it sounds .
