87 Merc V-150 Tach Question

Serial # 0B156087, 1987 V150 150 Hp. My tachometer connects to a terminal on the rectifier with one of the two yellow wires from the stator. Does it matter witch yellow wire it’s connected with?

No, the tach reads half of the alternator signal provided by either yellow wire on the rectifier.
