i just ordered the seal kit for my mercruiser outdrive. i pulled the sterndrive off and noticed water and oil in the driveshaft bellow. only thing is when i drained the lower unit oil there was no signs of water. i hosed the seal off from the inside of the boat. do you think i could have gotten water in through the seal? also do i need a special tool to replace the gimbal seal or can i just remove it through the bellow

That seal will not stop water or oil, supposed to keep the grease in the gimbal bearing from making a mess. water in the bellows: hole or high bilge water level.
Why would you "hose" the inside of a boat????????
