I've got a Mercury that just won't go! She ran fine all winter, spring, and beginning of summer, running great! put her in the shed for two weeks, put back in the water with new gas. Hard start, not idling well, smoky, engine sounds completely different, boggy and no hole shot! Won't get over 2000 rpm, not even the beginning of a plane. If I put the throttle all the way down, engine gets louder but stays around the same noise pitch, this is when it starts bogging, smoothes out when let off around half throttle and bumps and kicks like it wants to go. This has happened before, right after we cleaned the motor up after it sat for about six years, but even then after about ten minutes of trolling, she fired up and screamed and never had the problem again untill now, but the problem isn't clearing up this time. Please feel free to ask me questions in detail so I can better answer your questions. Two summers ago: all new fuel system, carbs rebuilt, ignition components checked out good, gas tanks cleaned, oil sytem good.
