I'm attempting to identify the appropriate fuel connector for a 1987 Mercury outboard. I have a 35hp and a Classic Fifty that I have included pictures of, both appear to be the same which one would expect for the same model year.

Have you looked through Iboats offering, they have connectors for your motors.

I have, just not sure which one is the correct connector. The descriptions are pretty vague, and I find conflicting results between 1987 and 1988. Just trying to order a couple of the correct ones.

From what info I have gathered, I'm leaning towards:
  • MERCURY MARINE 22-13563T 7
  • MERCURY MARINE 22-13563Q7
Was hoping someone might know for sure.

Well in looking close at your pictures, the connections are not exactly the same, one is going to use a connecter similar to the old Johnson connector with the spring clip retaining system, the first picture almost looks like it has a rubber grommet on it, but I am not seeing the clip grove to retain the connection. All of my Mercuries have been older with the barrel connections, Have you checked with Mercury Marine to see what they have to say? They are a great source of information.
