Can anyone offer some advice on this deal?

http://hartford.craigslist.org/boa/2512145974.html

In an email the owner said this:

these are things that have been done over the past three years. gimball bearing 2009, bellow 2009, new dual; batteries 2011, eletrical updaed 2010, new alternator 2011. New trailer tires all around 2011, new vhf radio 2011, AM-FM Radio with cassette. No Leaks

Then more specifically in another email:

The gimball bearing and the bellows were done at Dover Marine in 2009, In 2011 the apolstery was done at Dover Marine,
Privately I had a mechanic in 2011 update all the electrical, new alternator installed, new vhf radio dual batteries, new belts, rotor, cap, and plugs. This boat has always been winterized.
There are new tires this year on the Ez-loader trailer. There are some fenders and life jackets also, am-fm cassette radio. The engine runs great-no leaks.

I'm sorry if this is too much, i'm new to this forum and i was wondering if anyone can provide me with some insight on what to look for in these boats, or what to watch out for, or what to ask about.
other things i was told about over the phone were that the engine was rebuilt about 5 years ago, the hull is in good shape and the transom is also in good shape.

thank you,
Garrett

Re: 87 Wellcraft Nova help

As I am to understand the 87 had alpha one outdrive which was rated for 300 horses whereas the 454 had 330. The owner told me he took it out this year multiple times but on the fourth of July weekend he was out with and it just failed, he didn't say how but not something like blowing a gear through the housing. So I think I could take it apart and replace the damaged parts.

Yeah, that was me actually. I made a mistake on my registration, had to make a new one. I'm new to boat's and repairs, that's why I registered here, to seek some help. How extensive would taking this drive apart be? What special tools required?
