87 yamaha 70 hp

just ordered manuel so these 2 questions are prob unnecessary ? My yama has 3 lights green yellow and red (shut off) the green stays on all the time is this normal? Also the tach is very erratic I was told it needs a rectifer ?? Motor runs great and gets awsome milage Any help appreciated?

Just to be clear, do you have a model 70ETLH? The green light indicates that the oil tank does not require refilling. The yellow light indicates that the oil tank requires refilling. The red light means that you do not operate the engine because of the lack of oil. Use the Yamalube TCW-3 oil. Which manual did you order?

Thank you for reply I found a clymers manuel for yamaha up to 225 hp from a guy in local newspaper got it for 15 bucks .Im taking the boat to a local repair shop to get everything checked out before I run it more .The boat is a bomber cougar rated for 90 hp but the 70 pushes it just fine for me.That green light had me thinking glad its not a problem waiting to happen. ed

You need to get a real Yamaha manual that is specific for your year and model They can often be found on ebay.
