Hi, I have a 1988 135 Mercury Blackmax with intermittent spark. 2 weeks ago it ran good. Then last week, no spark. Now I have spark on right side only. Trigger is new. And I accidentally moved the fly wheel off of the top without using a puller and I placed it potentially in the wrong spot. Any help is appreciated.

The flywheel is easy to put back correctly. Remove the top most spark plug. Turn the flywheel until that piston is at top dead center. Look at the timing mark. It should indicate TDC. If not, and it is off by 360 degrees/6 bolts = 60 degrees, remove the small bolts and reset the flywheel to it's correct spot.

It will be easy to tell the difference between top dead center and +- 60 degrees

Ok thank you. The engine does not have a timing cover. So how do I know where to time it too

So you do not have that plastic cover over the flywheel with the window on the side? A salvage yard comes to mind.

They are avail new, for some reason, for $100 or so. I would also try ebay.

No I do not. It can only go in 6 places it’ll have to deal. I’m not paying 100 for a cover when I probably need 2 switch boxes

I live in a rural area. Boat motors don’t have a spot in a salvage yard. Not too many people have boats.

Try ebay. Those covers were probably common. I have on on my '93 135V6.
