Old guy friend mine has this motor. Changing impeller, and the front starboard bolt broke off inside housing with only a couple housing threads showing. He runs in salt water. I could get it out as a Machinist (retired) but my back in bad shape, and I got enough stuff to do my own toys. He's thinking just ignore it and let the other 5 sides and 1 rear fin bolts carry the load. I thought about it and I'm thinking ":why not"? All forward torque is pushing up, and little force in reverse. Not a big heavy load boat and not a hot rodder, just like cruising the bay. And he don't want to take it to a boat Mech as they are booked summer now. Opinions this? I thinking tell him "go for it"

Personally, I'll do it now. For as soon as that hollow bolt hole starts taking on sea water, it'll get worse before it gets any better. I believe the bolts on this are 5/16" and that should be enough to try to drill it out and use an easy out. Of course, you also want to make sure you do the correct preps, i.e. soaking it in penetrating oil, etc.

those bolts only have 15 lbs of torque on them - i think an easy out will work like Jiggz said. check out this stuff - it's amazing: Kano Aerokroil

Fix it but it doesn't need to be now.

These older salties can be a B to remove.
I use PB and WD and a small torch and a hammer.
