HI all,

Having a few problems with the above motor, went out on sunday all started of fine engine a little lumpy to start but when it started and ran was fantastic.

Ran for about 3 hrs with no real problems but then would not start, and thought the overheat alarm went off, then engine cut out.

Block cool to the touch not red hot and water from the tell tale was cool exhaust about 70 deg.

When checking the usual suspects ie primer bulb fuel pump etc fuel every where it should be, up to primer solinoid and working etc so fuel is getting where it should be ?? managed to start the engine with the solinoid open full etc and then would run for 30 or so seconds before cutting out, symptons were as if the engine was bogging down and could'nt maintain the revs, when i finaaly got it started and into wot ran fantastic as before.

really stuck for ideas

many thanks

Had drained carb trying to find the problem, luckily i have a 99% complete engine if needed, regarding the soleniod for the fuel tag pointing towards the motor or at 45deg.

I will check the tank as i had a similar problem with my 8hp mercury on the same tank, i hav a brand new one and did try this when it broke down but still the problem.

Tashasdaddy i will try the carb and take the complete one with me from the spare engine.

Many thanks
