I have an 88 bayliner capri with an 85 force outboard and I am replacing the floor. I am thinking about changing the back-to-back lounge seats to captains seats. Are the bases on the back-to-back lounge seats critical to structural integrity of the hull? Thanks for your help.

Re: 88 bayliner hull integrity seat swap

the answer to your question is no... they are surface mounted on the floor and the tabbed in to the side of the hull. On the other hand it lends creedence to side hull strength but i believe that to be negligable. one thing you may want to do since your doing the floors any ( i assume your laying new floor on top of old) id take some core samples of the stringers... i think youll find them history....mine were so i did a complete redo.... just a thought... also captains chairs have a pedistal mount that has less surface area than the front/rear seat setup... if the floor is already weak you may want to think about that before going forward
