'88 Evinrude 115 rebuilt and running worth 1500?

the mechanic that diagnosed my broken motor has found me a 1988 115 evinrude and said he would install it on my boat and have it in perfect working condition for 1500 dollars is that a good deal?

Everyone on here is going to ask you same question I did in your other thread. "Rebuilt" is rebuilt. This motor is not rebuilt, it is repaired. Big difference.

In "perfect working condition" fully rigged, it's a good deal. How long is the written warranty?

I think for the northeast , that is a seemingly decent deal..
all you can ask for is...no bad noises, good compression and good spark..and not all corroded...that is the basis for a decent motor and all most could ask for

and if it died two weeks after you got it, id say it was still a good deal to pursue, and if it runs for the next 10 years trouble free, it is the same deal all you can ask for

the only way you can improve your odds is to find one Just rebuilt with a warranty.....

any motor can self destruct at any time for some unseen reason
