88 force 125 reed plate

Ok I have slight problem. On the reed valve plates there is a small vent hole slightly offset on them. Some how I missed taking pictures of these when I disassembled it. Do the holes both face up? Both down ? Or to the middle? Also what are they for? I am guessing something to do with the fuel/oil recirculation.

Because of the bolt pattern, they can only go one way--down. They are part of the recirculation system to improve idle. personally, I always wondered if they really work, but the factory would not take the effort to put them there for no reason.

And make sure you have the gasket that has the hole in it,theres two different ones.
