88 Johnson 6.5 or 7 hp Lower Unit

I have a 6.5 Johnson OB, the serial says 7hp. The question I have is that the driveshaft is a 4 spline pretty much all the ones I have seen as possible replacements have been 10 spline. Can I just switch shafts? The gears in the bottom end are toast. What year/hp will work? Thanks For the future help.

1988 6.5 commercial model I suspect. If so model number is 7RSY or 7RSLY

Yes it is a 6.5 Commercial, Made in Canada black and gold in colour. So what lower unit is compatible?

Sorry I have not a clue.
It may be a downrated version of a larger engine so I'd look at the diagrams on http://shop2.evinrude.com/ext/index.aspx?s1=bf6ad09c53cead335fcfd8a6471c0f7f to see if the 8 or 9.9 look the same.
