88 MERCRUISER CRACKED BLOCK

I RECENTLLY PURCHASED A 3.0 MERCRUISER WITH GUESS WHAT, YEP A CRACKED BLOCK IN THE WATER JACKET. THERE IS NO WATER IN THE OIL YET SO IM COMPTEMPLATING DOING A QUICK FIX FOR NOW, BUT ULTIMATELY I WOULD LIKE TO REBUILD THIS MOTOR WITH MOST OF MY CURRENT PARTS ON A USED BLOCK. HOWEVER I AM HAVING TROUBLE LOCATEING THIS PARTICULAR BLOCK. DOES ANY ONE KNOW WHERE I COULD HIND ONE? YOUR HELP IS APPRECIATED GREATLY.<br /><br />AKIRASUN

LOOSE THE CAP-LOCK,+ You'll find more people willing to talk to you....<br /><br />I've got a couple of those engines sitting under my bench, with no home to go too.....<br />I'm also heading up to Old Town, shortly after Turkey Day...

Bondo: Thanks for replying to my search regarding your having a 3.0 mercruiser long block. I would be very interested in knowing what general shape the block/engine is in and how much you would be interested in selling it for. Your trip to old town would bring you right by my house traveling north. Basically im looking for a block to rebuilt mine and it is my understanding that the one i need is a 2 piece as opposed to a 1 piece block, im not totally sure what that all intails maybe you are. If you could let me know details and $$$ i would appreciate it. thanks<br />Bryan

The motors I have are the same.....<br />I have a core motor that was rebuilt, run about 5 hrs.+ 1 of the NAPA pistons Popped it's Top.... Tore it down, NAPA replaced the bad piston,+ the required gaskets..... Ran it another 5hrs,+ Popped Another piston top... Took out the cyl. wall with it.... <br />It now needs to go back to the machineshop to be sleeved......I'd Replace All the Pistons with TRWs or something... I just Don't Trust the NAPA pistons anymore......<br />The other 1s are running engines.....<br />If your still interested call me at bondo@twcny.rr.com
