today while taking the family out boating we i was in the water waiting to get pulled on a tube but buddy couldnt keep the motor running long enough to get it in gear because of needed carb work
so being the intelligent one i got behind the wheel and started the motor i had the rev up up and immediatly dropped it and threw it in gear and it just set there like it was being revved in neutral could i have sheared somthing hopefully ?
when in gear the prop turns freely like it where in neutral

Its quite possible that you sheared the drive shaft. Do you have reverse or is it like foreward and doesn't exist. First thing to check is control cable movement. You could have messed up the control box.

hydro.... you dont sound like the intellegent one, first of all running a engine with clogged carbs will burn up a cyl or two, second high rpm shifts will defenietly break something.
