88 suzuki

Am looking at what appears to be an '88 Suzuki, 85hp. As a rule, are these pretty good engines? I know it has all to do with how they were taken care of. It appears to have been well maintained. Just wondering if anyone had input about these engines and if there are any common-thread problems to be on the look-out for. thx. blt

85HP is a good power plant. Must do full maint on it prior to running. Get a manual for impeller, carb cleaning, fule blow out, injector cleaning, thermostat replacement, lower case gear oil, spark plug replacement. All shoudl be done prior to running. Bees love that pee hole, blow it out.
