The motor previously posted about is now at the machine shop.

Where is the best price and can I get a rebuild kit? Or do I have to order everything seperate?

I have priced the pistons through many sites on google around 80$ and the yamaha dealer says 200 per piston!?! Whats up with that?

Thanks again guys.

no kits avalible
gotta order everything seperate
be careful ordering pistons, some brands include circlips, pins and rings other brands just supply a piston.
always replace the bottom main bearing and use new rodbolts. I reccomend new wristpins and bearings the rod bearings and mains may be reused if kept in order and returned to the same spot if they are not damaged.

Re: 88ProV Rebuild Kit

We find it most convenient to use a marine machine shop that can supply the parts as well. Shops like Mar-Fab, Tribble Machine, Flagship, etc can not only do the work but can send the block back with all the necessary parts. Including the water pump and carb kits (non-injected motors). On injected motors, Flagship can clean and flow the injectors as well. Most of these places have rebuild programs where you send in a dressed powerhead and it comes back rebuilt and dressed ready to bolt on.

The biggest thing is to find out what caused the problem and correct it. Replacing a damaged piston is taking care of the effect, not the cause.
