88SPL gearbox shimming needed?

while prepping the motor for a new season, I noticed the prop was touching the gearcase casting.

gearcase oil looked good. (new seals last year)

Thinking that perhaps the prop bushing had shifted somehow, I put on 2 other props but all props rub against the gearcase.

So...the propeller shaft assembly needs shimming?

Is this 'normal' or am I missing something.

The hub is rubber, and it may happen from time to time it gets a bit 'off' after storage. Toque the prop nut to correct torque and it normally gets ok.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

For as much as i had studied the gearcase assembly diagram, my eyes went right past the thrust bushing. (which had stuck to the 17P prop I had pulled off when I replaced it with my 15P to give the nephews/nieces rides yesterday).

Everything in me knew something was wrong, but I couldn't place it and even though I had some sad nephews yesterday when i cancelled rides, I'm soo glad i turned around and trailered it.

sooooo simple.

sooooo important!

cheers to every forum member! (kudos to you Faztbullet)
