89 125 lower unit question type

Hello all, This is my problem I bought a 89 Force outboard for the lower unit to replace mine which is shot. After pulling the new lower unit I found the drive shaft is one piece.. The one that was on mine is in 2 pieces with a cupler holding them together. My question is can I use this lower unit, they are both 89 125 Hp engines Thanx for any help

As long as the driveshaft length and splines at the powerhead end are the same, you should be able to use the one piece driveshaft design gearcase. The only other concern would be the water tube connection. As long as the water tube is the same size and the coupler at the top of the water pump lines up and fits well, you should be good to go!
