I just bought a Johnson gt 150, took it to the shop Friday to get put on and the head mechanic wasn't going to be there till today to run it and found out in is not hitting on 3 cyl. Its got great compression he said. I bought it last Thurs. night and the man ran it for me and it sounded great then. All the way from idl to revving it. The mechanic is going to run some tests tomorrow but I just wanted some ideas here. Thanks, Chris

I don't know for sure, he never said. When he called the first time he said he was going to try putting in new plugs and They were bad.... Then he called and said it was still doing it and he was going to run some tests tomorrow. I was wondering if it had any thing to do with hooking everything up? This mechanic is supposed to be good and I'm not questioning him just investigating on my on for myself.

You may not have noticed that it was running on 3 cylinders during the test, especially if it was hooked up to the muffs on a hose. Depending on which 3 are not firing (if they are all on the same bank or not) the trouble could be a couple things, the most likely being the power pack or coils.

I was thinking coil. Is that how the power pack operates? Two banks, Three coils on each bank???
