89 30hp Jonson primer How to

Hey guy I just bought an 89 30 hp Johnson outboard. I'm not sure how to use the primer/choke button , can someone tell me how I should use it when cold starting my motor. Thanks ,I went hunting yesterday morning and like to have never got it to start, I know I was doing something wrong. Thanks

If you have an electric start,then turn the key and press it in wait for a second and then while pressing the key in ,turn the key to start. You will be getting the extra fuel for cold starting that way.

It does not have a key, it's a tiller handle and push button electric start.

I have an '88 30hp Johnson with manual primer. When cold starting, I pull it 3-4 times leaving it in the out position. Then start my motor. I push it in gradually as it warms up. As you get to know your motor, it may require more or less priming. Also, be sure to mix fuel 50:1 with TCW3 outboard oil. Good luck.
