I just bought a 1989 Webbcraft with only 136hrs on it from the original owner. I'm cruising along at about 25mph (after putting two hours of mild run time not skiing or tubing just crusing at low speed) and all the sudden it loses power and stops. I tried to restart and it just clicked and did not turn over. I was towed back to shore and installed a new battery to hear the same thing. It sounds to me that the motor seized up? Oh by the way all the my guages showed fine when this happened. I took it to the marina mechanic and he said he thought it was locked up as well but would do a few more checks before he condemned it. Also the boat had been stored in a heated garage and has sat since last summer. If indeed it is the motor seized up what could have caused it and how much are we talking to install a new motor? Also could I step up to a Vortec 350 with what I have or would it be best to stay with the origingal motor configuration?
Thanks in advance for all of your help! Again!!

14 years is a long time for manifolds. if 5.0 is a gm block that is a good upgrade but will need new manifolds if old motor not a vortec. did you try to rotate engine by hand? pull plugs and check for water?

Thanks I will probably just stay with the 305 Chevy motor.
Have not tried to rotate motor by hand yet. The marina mechanic said he is going to pull the plugs and look.
What does "hydrolocked" mean?
From the info you all have does it sound like the motor has seized up?

thanks again
