I have a 89 evinrude 70hp. I had a brand new battery about a week old but it had a female plug connection on it for a trotline puller that feel in water overnight and the next morning the battery was dead. Well I jumped it and was fine all day. Next morning it needed to be jumped. Was fine all day until the end it cut.off and at first acted like it was dead but on the 2nd try it started so i was thinking maybe something was loose but did not find anything .3rd day it started on its on but after about 2 hours the boat cut off and when I tried to restart it was actin like it was dead. When I tried to hook up another battery with jumper cables it did not help at first but after about a while it did start cranking but now it seems like the motor is not getting any gas and where as before if you pumped the primer to much then to much gas would go into the motor and pour out the carbs now its like there's a blockage and I can't pump the ball. I tried hooking fuel line directly to fuel pump and no change. It was a used motor ive had about 3 weeks and was running great until this point. Could I have damaged the fuel pump while jumping it? Also it originally had a separate oil tank but now oil is mixed with gas so is there a different fuel pump I should get if I replace the original one?

The VRO pump is not an electric pump.----The simple FACTORY diaphragm pump hardly ever fails.----But if somebody installed an aftermarket 12 volt pump all bets are off.----Need pictures to see / judge what you have.

I will get a pic as soon as i get home but one question is normally can't you continually pump the primer ball . All day if you wanted and have gas running out everywhere? Mine is acting like somethings blocking it and I can't pump any gas through. It i disconnect the hose at the gas pump the primer works like normal

With the factory pump you can operate the manual fuel pump and put fuel into the carburetors.----With an electric pump all bets are off.-----I can not see your motor , do not know what is installed.----No idea why someone would need to install an electric pump on one of these motors.

I understand what you're saying what I'm asking is if it has the normal diagram fuel pump do you no of anything that would cause the gas flow to be stopped up when I pump the primer ball? Even if the pump was no good shouldn't I still be abel to pump the primer ball and gas come out the carbs/flood the engine?? As it is now all of a sudden its like the gas line is capped of when I try to pump. Sorry if I'm not being clear or asking. Dumb question I have very limited knowledge about this stuff and this motor I just got a few weeks ago.. was running great until the battery died now it seems like it not getting gas

Perhaps the check valves in the bulb are bad ??----When the bulb has filled the carburetors the float valves close.----Then the bulb goes hard.---No fuel should flow.-----No fuel should then come out of the carburetors !!------The battery dying should have nothing to do with the fuel system if it is factory original equipment.----Sound like you need to do some trouble shooting with a FACTORY service manual to guide you !
