My engine model is 1258V9B, model B, and the parts picture online shows it has a booster spring in fuel pump 1st stage, but mine does not have a spring. The Clymers repair manual doesnt show a spring. Should I buy one and put it in? The pump and carbs were repaired by a local shop last year and now it runs for about an hour then starts bogging down. It perks up when I pump the bulb. This happens with the main tank and with a temporary tank. Should I look for air leaks around the carbs?

There and check your fuel lines and plug in fittings at the fuel hose ends for air leaks and make certain there connecting good! The valve in the squeeze ball may be going bad. If you have a fuel filter in the fuel line it may be partially blocked. If the fuel pump hasn't been rebuilt lately probably be a good time to rebuild it!
Seems some fuel pumps have the spring and some dont! max!
