Can anyone tell me where I can order these nylon gaskets other than mercruiserparts? They want $19.00 S&H for a $.75 part!
Is there any other gasket type I can use safely for these important seals?

I'd take one in the to local Merc. dealer and see if they can match it up. Odds are they can and are probably the same as the Mercs. Your local hardware store may also have a selection of nylon washers that they could match for you...

Mercruiserparts is an independent dealer, and has a minimum shipping and handling charge ($19).

You can get them at any Mercury dealer, or from Mercury at Mercurypartsexpress, with a more reasonable shipping charge.

R U talking about the washers on the fill and vent screws for the gear lube? Just go to any local merc dealer and they should have them. My originals were black rubber, the new ones that my local dealer gave me were a light blue almost like a neoprene.

Thanks fellas.
I did go to hardware store and found some but they seemed hard/brittle and I am concerned they may leak.
Ya think?

You can also use Johnny-Rude drain plugs. Not sure what year, but they come with an O ring set into the head so you don't need to tighten the hell out of them to seal-- and O rings are easy to find.
