89' Force 125 waterpump ?

I'm changing the water pump, and when I seperated the lower unit from the motor leg the driveshaft came with it. The seal and a metal ring slipped off the powerhead end of the shaft, and I'm not sure how it goes back together. The ring is flat on one side, and has a recess on the other. I'm thinking that the ring goes on the driveshaft flat side down and the bottom of the seal slips into the recess. Do I have it right?? Thanks a million Greg

The ring (retainer) goes on the bottom, the seal (tube) goes on top. As far as which side of the ring goes up, my manual does not say. Sorry.

The flat side of the ring goes down. The recessed end goes up, and the rubber boot sits into it. Make sure when putting it back in that it doesn't fall out. When it falls out it doesn't always fall out of the upper unit. Sometimes it falls off the driveshaft and stays up there. Good luck.
