should the magnet under the flywheel be epoxyed to the inside of the flywheel or should the magnet just hang out under there around the stator. i'm not getting any spark and i noticed that the magnet was loose

im thinking yes. i have never heard of the force motors doing this but i have seen johnnyrudes do this twice! and you can scratch your head bald trying to figure it out, if the ring stays in place but just turns.
they are glued in. i have never glued one back, but i dont see why you cant! if you can tell the exact position of where it has to go.

i've been told by 3 boat mechanics that they think it just sits around the stator but I don't see how that would do anything sence the stator dosen't move. i've already put a new stator and trigger in then i found this problem.

is it a small ring about 2 1/2" with two magnetic contacts or is it just a magnet?
can you see where it came from? im not sure your flywheel is the type im thinking about.

Re: 89 force 50 hp flywheel question

the magnet is about 2 inch wide and 18 inches long . it seems like it should be under the flywheel epoxyed to it. when i found it i was pulling the flywheel and it just stayed around the stator. i was going to get a new/used flywheel but now i can't get the old flywheel off. if it not one thing it another.
