I'm very new to outboards and to posting so please bear with me.

I have a 1989 Force 50hp. I just bought the motor at the end of the summer last year. Over all the motor is in an excellent state. Adequate power...for a Force I'm told, starts easily and consistently, shifts smoothly, idles very well, etc.

I took the boat out for a day of fishing the other day and everything was fine while in the water. However, I went to change the lower unit oil today and things don't look good. I lowered the motor and thick milky oil began oozing out of what I believe are the water intake ports...small sqaure screened ports on either side of the lower unit. I then unsrewed the lower plug and then the vent screw. Slowly a thick...and I mean milk shake thick...stream of oil began to drain out. I let the whole mess drain for about half an hour then pushed some fresh oil in through the vent hole to help flush out the thick stuff. I then ran inside because of the clouds of mosquitos.

So to make a long story short...how bad is my situation? I have Memorial Day plans at Rangley Lake...what should I do next?

Thank you
