Hello everyone. I'm replacing a impeller on a friends 50hp Force. One of the four bolts is stripped out that holds the pump housing in place, the bolt was only held in by silicone. Wondering if I'm ok to put it back together this way for him or should I use a helicoil on it? He has always taken it in to a shop in the past, I'm just trying to save him a few bucks.

I should have drilled and made a new thread or put in a Helicoil.

Thank you for the reply Nordin. Yea shoddy work for a shop! I'll locate helicoil for it, I don't think the next size up bolt will fit through the water pump housing.

The 3 bolts worked before.
I've seen them work and they had 1 bolt holding them in place?
Be careful when drilling and putting in the helicoil, don't dig too deep..

Thank you for your reply Jerry. Yes there is not much meat to drill into maybe 1/4 of a inch deep before drilling a hole all the way through! It might go back together as they had it.
