Hello all, frustrated Yamaha lover here working on an 89 force 50hp for a friend. I know there have been plenty of posts on the no spark issue with these engines, but i've been at it for about 6 hours now and no luck. "master certified Toro equipment technician can't even figure out a silly outboard" I first checked for spark and found none on either of the 2 cylinders. Immediately went for the kill circuit. After removing the shift console asm i found that both connections for the lanyard kill switch had broken off. Repaired both connections and verified proper function of the switch via ohms testing and it passed. Also went ahead and cleaned all key switch connections while i was here; still no spark. I've read up on this infamous "black/yellow kill wire" that the manuals speak of as well as other posts, but either this wire does not exist on this engine or i'm as blind as Ray Charles . Also read that this "black/yellow" wire goes all the way up to the console, but it is not here either. This is a prestolite ignition system with black coil packs, not blue, and there is no black/yellow wire to disconnect from "the pack", nor the "switch box". I'm almost positive i have verified the proper readings from my stator, but i am at a loss here. Possible VR? Stator? Checked all harness wires etc. Here's a picture of what unspecified.jpg i've got going on, and any ideas/help would be gratefully appreciated.

Mr. Moderator would you move this to the Force-Chrysler forum? Thanks, Mark
