So today I replace the check valve seals per the sticky. I removed the valve body from the valve cover as i thought that was a requirement. I was able to reassemble it correctly after looking at this link.

http://forums.iboats.com/forum/engi...nother-tilt-trim-leaking-down-slowly?t=209803

Everything went back together as it should I did notice that mine did not have 5 bolts that held the cover on it only had 4, however it worked before i took it apart it just slowly fell down. Now my problem is after refilling the unit it will not trim up It will however trim down. Ive tried cycling it up and down with the fill cap off to try and bleed the system yet nothing is working. I used non detergent 30 weight oil. Im really at a loss here does anyone have any advice or words of wisdom they can share with me?

The motor is a 1989 force 85

Thank you

Can you post a pic of the valve body? I wish you had not disassembled the VB and just replaced the o-rings on the spool and shuttle valves. Anyways, post a pic and see if we have a diagram on how to put it together accordingly.

Ya I wish i didn't either, I'll take a picture this evening and post it. I'm going to go ahead and buy the one in the second link I posted.

Is the diagram in the first link I posted not accurate? Mine is the same as the first link.

Got it working and now she holds steady. I installed the ball bearings on the wrong side of the springs.

I am glad you got it working! I am soon to be doing the same repair, what else can be replaced other than those o rings?

Thank you! I think there are 5 seals total on the check valves that you pull out. You could also rebuild the tilt and trim cylinders although mine didn't need it.
