Hi all, I'm new to the forums and from what I read so far, there appears to be some very knowledgeable folks here.
A little background on my boat. I traded a guy an old 4-wheeler for an 89 Ranger 393v w/GT 200 Johnson. It had been setting up for 2 years. Haven't cranked it yet. Checked compression, all 6 cylinders are at or around 90 psi.
The guy I traded with told me that the last time he run the boat that it would run a little while and shut off. He also told me that a mechanic told him that if he could see what appears to be that something has been dripping from under the stator that chances are the stator was bad. I looked under the stator and it does appear that something has been dripping from what looks to be coils mounted under the flywheel. So my question is, is the dripping a good indicator that the stator is bad? I also checked for a spark on all cylinders and only getting a spark on one cylinder.Any advice would be great. Thanks
