So I have an 89 j100stcem and the ball and socket connecting the link to the spark advance tab under the flywheel broke and I replaced it. In my wild stupidity I didn’t mark where the link was set to. The boat starts and idles just fine on muffs. Haven’t gotten on the water just yet to run it. But with all this being said, I assume I would now have to re-adjust the spark advance because I had removed the link. Again, I didn’t take an exact measurement to how long it was before I pulled the link off. How do I go about setting it properly again? Is there a factory length to set it to? I’m halfway mechanically inclined but this is my first rodeo with an outboard.
