Best I can make of it is:

C-Canadian
E-Evinrude
65-HP
WM- Electric Commercial - Manual Tilt
L-Long shaft

I assume it has something to do with it being a Canadian Made model OMC. Others will have more input...

Pretty sure CE is 89 but can't figure out why it starts the model #?
It is Johnson, (has been repainted or rebuilt and kept in mint condition it looks like new)
It is power tilt, long shaft.
Good try though
CE could stand for Crappy Engine ;)

Yeah, those numbers are pretty much greek to me and you are probably right that it's a 89' model and beings how it has power tilt, I'm way off.

I have now assumed is a '89 , '90 and a 1997 (saw that somewhere that WMLZ is a 1997)?
Would a dealer who rebuilt it (before I bought the boat) be better off badging it Johnson in charcoal or did it get done by an idiot.
When I first got the boat the motor constantly overheated and water poured out of the exhaust relief vents. I finaly figured out they had failed to install the grommet for the pickup tube on top of the water pump. Other dealers tried to pass it off as a VRO problem?
Got me thinking maybe they installed a T n T bracket on a different engine, is the serial # on the block somewhere I can check against the plate on the transom bracket?
It runs well but am gonna be snafued if I need parts.
