Hello again folks,
I started a thread awhile back titled "Switching Powerheads". However I decided to rebuild what I had. I bought a boat with this engine on it and I knew the engine had been run hot. I have honed the cylinders, ordered one new piston and got new rings for the other pistons. I am in no way a mechanic and that is why I had asked questions in the other thread. What I have now is this....the rings that I ordered (existing pistons are .030) will not fit into the grooves. The old rings are smaller in thickness. What is the difference in the thickness of the rings...better quality, higher compression rings or what??? Can the pistons be regrooved or just reorder the rings? What are the pros and cons of doing this?
Again Thanks for any input
Rick
