Man you guys are good ! I try, but heres my problem. Starts and idles great. Needs chocking sometimes twice or three times, but idles real nice. Once i get the throttle forward it acts for just a second like its going to get into high RPMs but doesnt. As though the cables need slack taken out of them. That was my first impression, so I checked the route and inside the box.

Little History: since ive had the boat, I put new seals in the lower end, replaced impellor, put carb kit in it. Took it out and the boat would plane out and scream then die after a couple of minutes. I traced that to a bad thermostat. So I flatten the head plate so slightly, new gaskets, thermostat, emeried the cylinder walls a little.
Back on the water, this is when it started the bog down. Cylinder pressure recently was 120 psi on each. (2 cyl), New Denso plugs show a strong zap. Gas is streaming fairly well out of the VRO hoses to carb. The carbs were cleaned twice actually. The syn linkage on the carb is fine according to the book and the butterflys open together and close when throttle is down. I also found a gas leak in the hose to motor connection. It first sounded like a loose cable then like its not getting any gas. The timing should be untouched as it would run like a bat out of Carlsbad. The throttle linkage and timing advance should be ok, as it ran so good prior. The reeds looked good, straight clean, but dont know much about them. It has no fuel pump as intake pressure pulls gas through. I understand there is no adjustment screws on the carb for air/fuel mixture. Stators, I know nothing about, the transformers seem to hold a good deliverance. ??
I did change the fuel filter with a standard small engine filter, Could this be a problem ??
I dont think so !! I am thinking the fuel pickup valves in the carb, but cant imagine them dirty after previous soaks. The smoke is light and slightly blue white, the plugs are a little wet with the blueish fuel, is that normal ?? I dont know if the plugs should be dry, but the oil would prevent efficient burning !?!? so there is a little residue. Long letter. Anyone want to contribute ?? I appreciate all comments. Thanks !

Did you check your coils? If they have cracks in them then they may be the cause. I know you said you a have a strong spark, but that is in the open air, not under compresion, the compresion may be causeing the spark to fail.

Sounds like a weak powerpack to me. Like Lark says test under copression. Hold a pair of insulated pliers to the plug wire off the plug and crank. Spark should be bright blue and jump 7/16" to 1/2".

Leave your spark plugs in and take the wire off. You may need to put a nail in the boot making sure that it makes good connection with the coiled wire inside. Have someone use insulated pliers and hold the plug wire next to the block. When you crank this engine you should see a bright blue spark jump 7/16" to 1/2" to the block. Repeat this on all plug wires. If the spark is yellow/orange then that powerpack is weak and needs to be replaced. If your engine will run you can also take the plug wires off one at a time and listen for the engine to change. Just make sure you use insulated pliers or you will get yor arm jerked back and bust your elbow on something. You will probably need a clean pair of shorts too.
