I have an 89 Merc 4.3L I am replacing the coil and plugs along with cap button, basically all the ignition stuff. Anyway I bought a set of Autolite 144 spark plugs but for the life of me cannot find a consistent ruling on the gap. I put 3 in and set the gap to .045 and then stopped before putting the other 3 in (on the hard side to reach) and questioned weather the gap was right.... should I stick with .045 or should I take the 3 I already did out and set them to something else...

Since I am putting in a new coil can I get away with .45 gap?

Ayuh,.... Yer puttin' Ford sparkplugs in a Chevy motor...
Those plugs are Steel bodied, 'n will rust...

The called for plugs are AC Delco, MR43T, which are alloy bodied, 'n won't rust...

I'd go with the .035" it calls for...
