This motor was in storage for about a year and when I put it on the boat and tried to start it, no luck. I changed the plugs, no luck. Broke down the carb and found it had water in the carb. After cleaning it, the fuel filter and changing the gas tank, and blowing out the fuel line from tank to motor, it started up fine. (This is with attachment/hose, not in water) I tuned it and it runs well at low to half speed, and I got the idle down to a nice level. The propeller had a decent amount of damage, so I bought two propellers.
1. Composite, 4 blade from iboats. 10" diameter, 11 pitch.
2. Michigan match, 3 blade, 13 pitch.
I started out with the Composite, and took it to the lake. I was worried when I hit full throttle because it sounded like the rpms were too high. I was also not getting the speed I remembered from the last time we had the boat out (years ago). The motor ran fine, but I could never get it to lift up and plane and I was concerned about too high of an rpm.
I changed the propeller to the 3-blade, 13 pitch and hope to test it out tomorrow. There is no 'high speed' idle adjustment for this motor, so I'm worried about how to get the full throttle issue resolved and possibly getting it to plane. Any help appreciated.
