Re: 89 omc carb

Take off the 2b, and look at the intake, that should answer your question. But if it confuses you, then YES, you need a 4 b intake for a 4 b carb.

Why not just get the 2b rebuilt?

If you have a 2 bbl manifold, then you can't put a 4 bbl carb on it. If you were to use an adapter, the upgrade to a 4bbl carb would be a waste of time.
Unless you change the intake to a 4bbl, there is no advantage to going to a 4bbl carb.

i am selling the boat and the carb wont stop dumping fuel into the motor so i told the person he can just rebuild it and he said he would just want to install a new one.......

If it's such an easy fix, why don't you just rebuild the carb yourself and sell a good running boat. They sell for more money when they run right.

Don S i told him i was not going to start the motor up till its like always 50F and up so i wont crack the block.. i am selling the boat cuz i want a bigger one like a 25 26 mine is a 23 so i tell everyone what the boat needs. motor was rebuild last year (have all paper work) and i was going to get my carb rebuild but it was already turkey month so i just left it. idk maybe i will just rebuild it, boat works really good its just when you go back to idle or boat on water the card just dumps fuel but if you going like 5 mph @ i think around 1000 1500 rpm carb works really good then when you want to stop the boat then thats when the carb dumps fuel......

Sounds like the float is not seating, and over filling the float bowl.
