89' omc130hp motor will not run?

I have a 1989 baretta, 18' IO. with a 130hp OMC motor that will turn over and spark fine, but will not run.
replaced parts: coil, points, condensor. compression is ok, timing is good
I have dismantled and cleaned the carb. spark is fine

It is so close to firing up, but something is causing a problem, once it started firing over on its own, about 4 rotations but it was very slow, then died.

pour a a little gas into the carb, then make sure the choke is closed and see what it does.

1. Do what don said

2. double check your timing making sure it is on the compression stroke (if you removed the distributer).

3. Double check your point dwell/gap

4. Do what don said

5 Still nothing? Do compression test.

ok, i tried it and had most success, it kicked over fast probably 2 or 3 rotations.

just the posting that I was looking for.
I have a 1989 Baretta 191 Success and the OMC 3.0 engine & Cobra io that won't start as well,new plugs, wires, gets spark but wont fire up.
what did you do ,and what was caused the trouble?
compression test and timing is next on the list.
oh! it ran super before I winterized it and haven't used it in one season and it was in a heated garage here in middle TN.
any and all help would be great.
