Hello all,
I am an auto mechanic of 20 plus years, work on lots of 2 cycle snowmobiles. but not many outboards. with that said here is my problem.
helping a buddy out with a 1989 200. starts and idles good , and sounds good. cold it will put the boat up on pad ok, just ok. but the first time you set it down it will not get the boat back up. while running at WOT it will pick up what seems to be a cyl or two momentarly then gone. I hit the choke while at WOT to see if an enrichment would help but just the opp. fell flat on its face. when i check the plugs they seem wet to me, but all even. when you install a new set of plugs it seems better for a few mins but back to the same. seems rich to me. i have checked the fuel pumps and they seem fine and NOT bleeding into the crankcase. did an compression test all cyl were even but seemed low to me. around 85lbs. all were within 2-3 psi. not sure if i am doing the test proper or not. not sure what the compression should be. any help would be greatly app. Thanks in advance Dave
