I would like to add a spare fuel tank for my 89 Yamaha 90 hp. It currently has a 6 gallon metal tank. Looking at local retailers has me confused based on the connections which come on a new tank. Looking online I find many used tanks that look like mine, appear to have the same type of connections, etc. BUT are branded differently. Can anyone give me advice on my options and/or what to look for ?

What boats this going on? a 6 gallon fuel tank is very small for a 90 hp I use a 12gallon for just my 16 foot with a 40hp Yamaha. the new outboard fuel tanks like moeller have the new epa regulated cap which is "supposed to vent fuel vapors" But they don't and unless you leave your cap not fully screwed down your tank will blow up like a balloon and you can get vapor lock while running wot. I'd just get the other style tank and not have the hassle. Also you will have to buy the connections for your Yamaha..

Thanks for the feedback. I have a 18 ft alum ski/fish. I do have a second 6 gallon tank. Have a vacation planned and wanted a third to be safe plus yhe nearest fuel station will be a hike. I have been looking for the older style but not finding anything in my area.
