Hello,
I have changed U-joints, Gimble, Bellows everything I can think of. I am weak, not able to attach the outdrive upper unit with the lower all at one time (wife hates boats, I am getting to old to lift) Attached upper drive, placed in forward gear, replaced lower drive hoping still in forward gear. Murphy's law, not in gear when shifter forward, not in reverse when pulled back.
Any help would be appreciated.
Raw novis.

When you get old you have to use your head instead of your back. :D

When putting the assembled unit in, get the wife to put some shims of wood under the skeg to support the outdrive. Shove the input shaft into the gimbel bearing, if necessary add some more shims.

If you have the top already installed, gear shift in forward, move the shift tab on the lower to forward, put a rubber bungee cord on the prop, to hold the prop to keep it locked in forward.
don't forget the rubber "O" ring on the right side and put it together.

I Typed this out Last Night,+ Lost it before I posted it,..... Doohhhhh,..Clicked the Wrong Button......

Anyway,.....

Do You have a Floor Jack ????

The Jack can hold the Weight,.. While You hold the unit In Forward,+ Align everything to finish the Install.........

And,..... You Can't Hope it's In Forward,... You've got to Put It There,.. Like cc lancer explains........

Also,... An After Thought,...........
Maybe You could make a New Friend, with the Kid next door,.. or down the street,... or from Church,.. Or ???????
The Kid could Learn Something,+ You could get Your Boat Fixed...........

Best of Luck,... Whichever way you go.........

cc's right, when he said,

"When you get old you have to use your head instead of your back."

a cable jack or a couple of pulleys on a limb or rafter to lift and support the whole drive. I preffer to mate the upper and lower horizontaly on the bench or floor and not fight it...then...have the kid, (my son), carry it out to the boat. I have used his skateboard for this. I used his skateboard to dolly a big tool box to the back of the house too. He caught me doing that too! that was funny!

And you could make a friend...eeboater could help, then maybe your wife will take an intrest!sl

Wow, What a battle.
When I get the boat in forward gear, and the prop locked in forward gear I cannot get the lower end to join. Battled the bugger most of last night. I am wondering if I might be better off taking them off getting them joined together and attempting to find some 800 pound gorilla to help me stab the whole unit in.
Any thoughts?
Very frustrating.
