Hi,

I have a 1982 8HP Mariner motor (Serial number 677 S)

I need gaskets, seals and an output / drive shaft.

Aftermarket or cheaper-than-genuine parts would be preferable.

Can anyone suggest a supplier or websites to source these parts?

They are going to be a little hard to find in the aftermarket relm. But perhaps if we knew which seals, gaskets, and output shaft you needed.

Lower unit?, carb?, powerhead?, crankshaft driveshaft or prop shaft? waterpump?

Re: 8hp Mariner parts

Roscoe - thanks for the reply.

I have dismantled the powerhead due to a slight seizure. Overheating looks to be the problem - impeller is fine but all water passages were blocked with salt.

The gaskets I need are all powerhead related - head, thermostat, exhaust chamber x2 and the one between the powerhead and the lower unit.

The seals are the ones either end of the crank. The existing crank seals would probably be fine, but I would usually replace such items regardless.

I'm hoping that someone does a gasket set (I'm a motorcycle mechanic and one can find aftermarket replacement parts for most bikes).

I had a quick browse around the internet for a supplier of gasket sets, but I'm probably not looking in the right places. I can get genuine parts from the local dealer, but the $200NZ they want seems a bit spendy for this application.

The other item I need is the prop shaft (sorry if I used non-outboard descriptions). It has corrosion pitting and lets water past the seal into the lower gear casing. The local dealer says $350NZ for this part!

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
